The idea for this came from my memories as a child of catching critters in a jar and my attempt to reuse old things in a new way. I have had several jars like this for decades and decided it's time to let it go. It is an antique Ball Ideal quart wire bail canning Jar which I placed a piece of driftwood, moss and a stained glass butterfly. The body of the butterfly is an opaque royal blue and the wings are a beautiful swirly opaque purple glass. I finished it with a black patina. This jar shows a little age with some barley noticeable scratches but no cracks. The lid may not be Ball but it is antique glass.
