Capture the enchanting beauty of butterflies all year round with this set of two handmade stained glass butterflies mounted on an aged wood backdrop. Crafted with lavender/plum opaque glass wings and a deep purple body, these delicate butterflies come to life with wire legs, eyes, and antenna, all finished with a black patina.
The aged wood piece, showcasing captivating textures and character, adds a rustic touch to the artwork. Stained with a medium brown stain and sealed with a low sheen polyurethane, the wood complements the vibrant hues of the butterflies. For easy hanging, a jute cord has been added.
The total height of the piece measures 18 1/2 inches, including the hanging cord. The wood mount with the butterflies overhanging measures 12 inches tall, 3 3/8 inches wide, and over 2 1/2 inches deep. Each butterfly has a width of approximately 2 1/4 inches and a length of about 2 1/4 inches.
In making these butterflies each piece of glass has been hand-cut, ground to shape, and assembled using the Tiffany method, with copper foil applied to all edges, burnished, and soldered. I added a black patina for a classic look.
